We are living in the era of Artificial Intelligence. And with more data points connected and integrated into it, every industry, individual and device is governed and impacted by it. As AI advances and proliferates into various aspects of businesses the need to set the legal framework around it increases.

Major concerns within the legal framework revolve around issues such as privacy, legal liability, enactment and enforcement of the regulatory laws etc. Recognizing a need to meet this challenge early on, IFIM Law School in association with Comparative Legislation Society, Paris, is organizing the first International Conference on the intersection of AI with Data Privacy and the pressing need for an appropriate regulatory framework.

AI AND DATA PRIVACY

Enormous data streams which are collected by corporations and government can be utilised for the benefit of society by means of AI analysing it and giving effective output. But sudden growing concern regarding the abuse of data by big corporation has caught everyone’s attention today. Isn’t the data used by the State and Corporations necessary for holistic growth of the world? The emergence of a new concept in the system always shakes the proper functioning but does it mean that entry should be banned or balance should be brought through controlled regulation?

AI AS DECISION MAKING TOOL

Can AI be used by the judiciary? The use of AI in the judiciary will help in minimising the influence of extraneous factors such as weariness and emotional instability at the time of pronouncement of judgment. Though there can be threat of structural bias in the AI decision making itself, which stems from the data collected for AI training from the legal system. Can artificial intelligence give better judgment then human brains? In case of error can AI be made responsible or the legal system? Can Explainable AI bring a perfect AI Judge?

CALL FOR PAPERS IFIM LAW SCHOOL’S INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL LAW & REGULATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & ROBOTICS

IFIM Law School, Bangalore invites research papers to be published in the IFIM’s International Journal on Law & Regulation of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics. The Journal shall be launched at the Inauguration of the International Conference on ‘Law & Regulation of Artificial Intelligence: A Global Perspective’ to be held on February 25, 2019.

NATURE OF SUBMISSIONS

The short article shall consist of 1000-1500 Words

The long article shall consist of 2000-4000 Words

While there are a wide variety of topics and perspectives relevant to the subject and theme of this conference, some suggested topics include:

Two best papers will be selected by the Panels of experts and authors will be awarded with a

cash prize of Rs 2500 each.

SUBMISSION THROUGH EMAIL

All submissions must be mailed in Word format as an attachment following the Bluebook (20th ed. 2015) to principal.law@ifim.edu.in and apoorvi.shrivastava@ifim.edu.in with the subject ‘Article submitted for AI Journal’.
The body of the email must mention the name of the author(s), contact number, academic year (if applicable), qualifications (if applicable), institutional affiliation, title of the paper, and a declaration to the affect that the manuscript is an original and previously unpublished work of the author.

Deadline for submission of full paper: 12th February
